Most players would be thrilled to have their game compared to an NBA legend’s.
But Jeff Green quickly batted away remarks that he was looking like James Worthy the other night, saying people needed to check with Worthy before sending compliments Green’s way.
Worthy responded this week, and while he has not crowned Green the next Worthy, he did tip his cap to Green’s deference. He tweeted to the Celtics forward that he had “much respect” for Green’s move.
Green, in return, complimented him back.
“@james_worthy42: @unclejeffgreen Much respect!”(ur a great sir, its all RESPECT and LOVE…

The jury is still out on how Green’s game compares to Worthy’s, but it appears there’s at least a lovefest going on between a Lakers legend and an upstart who’s trying to become a Celtics great.
