Report: Shane Victorino, Red Sox Are Talking About Three-Year, $38 Million Deal

The Red Sox could be close to signing a free-agent outfielder, and it’s not one of the usual suspects they’ve been linked to.

The Red Sox are the “frontrunners” for Shane Victorino, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. The Red Sox have offered Victorino a three-year, $38 million contract. The Dodgers did not give Victorino a qualifying offer, so they would not have to give up a second-round pick for his services.

Victorino batted .255 last season split between the Phillies and Dodgers, with 11 home runs, 55 RBIs and a .704 OPS. The 32-year-old outfielder also had 39 stolen bases. Victorino can play all three outfield positions, but has spent the most time in center field. He has spent his entire career in the National League.
