Team Mexico’s run in the World Baseball Classic is over, but the aftereffects of Saturday’s brawl could continue to linger.
FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi reports that any punishments doled out to those involved in the melee between Mexico and Canada would likely carry over to the regular season, as well, since the tournament is sanctioned by Major League Baseball and the players’ union.
WBC International has jurisdiction over suspensions. Discipline is in hands of committee consisting of MLB and union officials.

Since MLB suspensions apply to WBC, it seems likely that a WBC suspension could carry over to MLB season. Sanctioned by same bodies.

Four Mexico players, including Red Sox right-hander Alfredo Aceves, and four members of Team Canada were ejected from the game. No additional punishments have been announced at this time.
