Chris “Birdman” Andersen won’t be taking flight in Indiana again any time soon.
The Birdman has been suspended by the NBA for Game 6 of the Heat-Pacers series, in response to his altercation with Tyler Hansbrough. Andersen was given a flagrant-1 foul by the refs during Game 5, but the NBA announced it had upgraded that to a flagrant-2 upon further review.
That means the league believes the refs should have initially ejected Andersen during Game 5, similarly to how Nazr Mohammed was ejected in the previous round for shoving LeBron James to the ground.
NBA commissioner David Stern suggested as much during an interview with NBC Sports Radio on Friday, foreshadowing Andersen’s punishment.
The Miami Heat lead the best-of-seven series three games to two. Game 6 is on Saturday.
