It’s so long ago now it seems like it never happened, but long before he was hawking wares for Nike and Coors, Ice Cube was one of the most controversial, in-your-face figures ever to come out of hip-hop. Well, Tommy Lasorda is easily old enough to remember N.W.A. or The Predator.
On Monday night, the man otherwise known as O’Shea Jackson showed up at Chavez Ravine to take in a Dodgers game. In some ways, it’s kind of surprising that this meeting never happened before, as Ice Cube is a longtime Dodgers fan, and has a noted relationship with the City of Angels.
In any case, Ice Cube and Lasorda had the opportunity to meet, and the former Dodgers manager posted a picture of the summit on Twitter (yes, the 85-year-old Lasorda has a Twitter account). Lasorda even smartly quoted the famous 1993 track “It Was a Good Day” in his tweet.
