When Powerade endorser LeBron James went down with cramps in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, it wasn’t exactly the best look for the sports drink company, especially thanks to rival sports drink Gatorade.

So when the Miami Heat star took the floor for Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs, there was more on the line than just a chance to even the series.
To the delight of Powerade executives everywhere, LeBron poured in 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Heat held on for a 98-96 win, finally allowing the company to exact Twitter revenge against Gatorade after the Game 1 drama.

Powerade seemed to be putting all of its eggs in James’ basket, as it sent out several tweets throughout the game blatantly showing support for its star partner.

At the moment, Powerade’s stake in the “sports drink wars” appears to rest solely with James. While his efforts in Game 2 proved that that’s never a bad thing, the company had better hope he can keep up his dominant play when the series shifts to Miami on Tuesday.
