Rafael Devers Headlines Red Sox’s 2014 Fall Instructional League Roster

Rafael DeversAs the 2014 Major League Baseball season nears its conclusion, the Boston Red Sox continue to work toward developing the organization’s next batch of big league stars.

The Fall Instructional League already is underway. The Red Sox’s 2014 roster includes several intriguing prospects, including Rafael Devers, Manuel Margot and Michael Chavis.

The Fall Instructional League is used to develop players in the low minors, many of whom are considered to have high upside but aren’t yet on the cusp of reaching the majors. The league includes classroom training, on-field workouts and games.

Devers is ranked the No. 3 prospect in the Red Sox organization by SoxProspects.com. Margot is ranked fifth and Chavis, who was Boston’s top pick (26th overall) in 2014, is ranked eighth.

Most of the players participating this season either played with one of the Red Sox’s short-season affiliates or played a full season at Single-A. The complete roster is below.
