Caron, who was assigned to Providence on Tuesday, will be eligible for Thursday night’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. The 23-year-old appeared in 35 games with Boston last season.

Caron had a goal and two assists last season while averaging 10 minutes, 55 seconds of ice time per game. The former first-round pick has played 123 career NHL games over parts of four seasons, totaling 12 goals and 16 assists.

The Bruins also assigned forward Brian Ferlin and goaltender Malcolm Subban to Providence before Thursday’s game in Detroit. The Bruins’ roster has been in flux over the last three days for salary cap reasons.
