Brandon Bass is a dad first, and a basketball player second.

In a recent interview with Life of Dad, the Boston Celtics forward opened up about learning how to swim at the age of 28, his playing career and his two kids. Bass, who has received plenty of trade interest this season, told Art Eddy he’s already seeing a lot of himself in his young son.

“In my son, he is athletic. He is shy. He is shy like his daddy,” Bass said. “He is smart, which he has to have gotten from his mom. I see him at an early age being a loyal guy to his friends. He seems to have a cool relationship with them. It is cool to see things like that in him with those qualities that I have.”

Bass added that his “relentless attitude” is the one thing he wants his two kids to remember about him.

“What I want him to carry on from me is just my relentlessness in whatever it is. The reason why I am this far in my career is that I am relentless in my work ethic and in all of the obstacles that have presented themselves to me over the years. It is a relentless attack to those things. So it is just having that relentless attitude.”

Bass also divulged that his favorite family movie nights usually involve “Christmas Vacation,” and the Bass fam has been jamming out to “Let It Go” of late, as it’s his daughter’s go-to song.
