Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid fought Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Schultz just seven seconds into the first period of Saturday’s game at the Wells Fargo Center.
Bruins forward Daniel Paille took a huge hit from Schultz in the neutral zone and McQuaid stepped in to defend his teammate. McQuaid was able to land a few powerful jabs in the one-sided bout.
It was McQuaid’s second fighting major in 25 games this season. He also received a two-minute instigator penalty and a 10-minute game misconduct. The Flyers went on a power play as a result, but the Bruins’ penalty kill did its job.
