NHL Referee Mike Leggo Pukes On Ice, Delays Penguins-Lightning Game (Video)

As an NHL referee, Mike Leggo is used to blowing a whistle. On Friday night, however, he unfortunately was blowing chunks.

The veteran ref found himself in the unenviable position of vomiting in front of an arena full of people and plenty of others watching on TV, as he lost his lunch while officiating a game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Leggo’s upset stomach came back to bite him midway through the first period when he couldn’t help himself and puked on the ice. It was, as you might imagine, not very pretty. Leggo did make a nice gesture as he needed to upchuck again. Instead of spewing on another part of the ice, Leggo skated back to the scene of the first crime and tossed his cookies in the same spot, which presumably made life easier for the poor guys who had to come out and scrape it off the ice.

You can see it below if you’re into that sort of thing.

Leggo left the game and didn’t return. Hopefully he was off getting some Saltines and a glass of ginger ale.
