BOSTON — Bruins fans had cause for concern when goaltender Tuukka Rask left Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers just 10 seconds into the second period.

Rask took himself out of the game and didn’t return after stopping all 14 shots he faced in 20:10 of ice time.

Luckily for the Bruins, Rask didn’t suffer an injury and head coach Claude Julien said the Finnish goaltender should be OK for Sunday’s road game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

“He’s fine,” Julien said. “It looks like it might have been a case of dehydration, so he’s scheduled to travel with us, he’s scheduled to be with us and he should be fine for (Sunday).

“We just found out at the beginning of the second. He went in there, and when he came off that’s why I went to him said, “Are you still having those symptoms?” He said “yeah,” so I said “Well, let’s get you out of here and put (backup goalie Niklas Svedberg) in,” who did a good job by the way.”

Svedberg made 16 saves on 18 shots in Boston’s 4-2 win. It was his first game action since March 22 against the Buffalo Sabres. With Rask out of commission, Bruins goaltending coach Bob Essensa had to suit up as Svedberg’s backup.
