Mookie Betts’ time at the Professional Bowlers Association World Series of Bowling is over after a successful run.
The Boston Red Sox outfielder had his worst day Friday, but he still bowled an average of 190 in 36 sets over the course of four days.
“As far as mechanics in bowling — in hitting, there are different ways to start, but the base of hitting, everybody is pretty much the same,” Betts told the Boston Herald’s Jason Mastrodonato on Thursday. “In bowling, everybody is pretty much the same at a certain point, but I don’t know that point. And I don’t know how to get to that point. I obviously want to be good at my hobby, and I don’t know how to be good at it. That’s the frustrating part.”
Despite the tough ending, Betts finished better than 20 full-time pro bowlers, and that was with only two weeks of practice.
Betts will hit the lanes again Saturday when he participates in his mother’s 25th annual celebrity charity bowling event.
