The best fighter the Dallas Stars have to offer was no match for Adam McQuaid.
Antoine Roussel has participated in exactly half of all Stars fights this season (seven of 14), but McQuaid got the better of him Saturday night, battering the 26-year-old winger with rights during the second period of the Boston Bruins’ visit to Big D.
It was the first time McQuaid and Roussel had officially dropped the gloves, but they do have a history. The two came close to squaring off last February, but that ended when Roussel cross-checked McQuaid in the face, sending the Bruins defenseman crashing to the ice.
Roussel also had a goal and an assist Saturday night, giving him the fifth Gordie Howe hat trick of this NHL season, according to STATS.
