Sin City is as close as it’s ever been to getting an NHL team.

Las Vegas has been rumored as a possible choice for an NHL expansion team for quite some time, and Adrian Dater of Bleacher Report reported it was a “done deal” earlier this month. But if you had any doubts, The Associated Press also reported Tuesday the NHL “settled” on putting a team in Las Vegas as early as the 2017-18 season, as long as organizers can produce the $500 million expansion fee.

More news about expansion likely will trickle out of the Board of Governors meeting on June 22, which happens to be in Las Vegas.

The new team likely will play at the beautiful new T-Mobile Arena.
