Red Sox Call Up Brian Anderson, Joey Gathright

Following the Pawtucket Red Sox' loss to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, outfielders Brian Anderson and Joey Gathright were promoted to Boston as September call-ups, the Providence Journal reports.

Anderson, 27, has appeared in three games for the Red Sox this season. He is 1-for-6 (.167) with one RBI since joining the Red Sox. Anderson was traded to the Red Sox from the White Sox on July 28 for Mark Kotsay and cash considerations.

Gathright, 28, played in 20 games with the Cubs this season. He hit .214 with no home runs or RBIs  before being waived and sent to the Orioles. Gathright was acquired by the Red Sox from the Orioles on Aug. 29 for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
