There's some good news and there's some bad news in Patriots camp on Sunday morning.

The bad news is that Wes Welker is on the inactive list for New England's matchup against the Falcons. The good news is that Randy Moss is not.

The Patriots announced their inactives shortly before noon on Sunday, and among those listed were Welker, cornerbacks Jonathan Wilhite and Darius Butler, running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and linebackers Prescott Burgess and Jerod Mayo.

Welker missed last week's game with a right knee injury, and the Patriots felt his void, failing to score a touchdown in a 16-9 loss to the Jets. He had limited participation in practice on Thursday and did not participate in team drills on Friday.

Moss, who has been plagued by a back injury, was present for the start of drills on Friday but did not participate.

Butler, who appeared in the loss to the Jets, was limited in practice all week due to an injured left thigh. According to Boston.com, Butler tested his leg a few hours before Sunday's kickoff — he was seen stretching and sprinting along the sideline — but it appears he didn't look good enough to play.

The already struggling New England defense will certainly be tested even further on Sunday as it looks to compete with Atlanta's fierce offense, but who knows? Maybe the sloppy, rainy weather will help.
