Zdeno Chara Will Miss Tuesday’s Game Against Toronto Maple Leafs

Already without alternate captain Marc Savard, the Bruins will be forced to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night without the man who wears the "C" on his chest.

Zdeno Chara suffered a "lower-body injury" on Sunday and will not be able to play on Tuesday, head coach Claude Julien announced after the team's morning skate. Chara did not participate in the skate and is day-to-day, according to Julien.

The immediate result of Chara's absence will likely be the NHL debut of Jeff Penner, who was recalled on Monday by the Bruins. The 22-year-old has six goals and 21 assists this year for Providence.

Chara spent more than 25 minutes on the ice on Sunday, which is his average time on ice for the season.

The Bruins' official Twitter page also reported that Tim Thomas will start in net for the fourth consecutive game.
