The Buffalo Sabres may get a boost in Game 4 of their series with the Bruins. Injured forward Thomas Vanek is a game-time decision, NESN.com's James Murphy reports.

Vanek, the Sabres' leading scorer with 28 goals and 25 assists this season, missed Monday's Game 3 with a left ankle injury, which he suffered in Game 2 on a Johnny Boychuk hit. But Vanek was on the ice for the team's morning skate Wednesday and could be ready to play.

"I'm encouraged," Vanek said. "I'll talk to coach later, and we'll go from there."

Fellow forward Matt Ellis also returned to the ice for the Sabres on Wednesday. However, Ellis, who broke his nose on a hard hit by Boychuk in Game 3, will not play in Game 4, according to SabreSpace.com's Bill Hoppe, via Twitter.
