Rookie games in the NHL generally take place in rinks, not arenas. Such was the case for this year's Bruins games as well. Yet, after the selection of Tyler Seguin in the draft, the Bruins elected to move the games to the TD Garden.

That turned out to be a rather smart move.

While the attendance numbers at Wednesday's game were impressive, the number on Thursday was almost unbelievable: 14,180.

That's roughly 81 percent of the full capacity of the Garden, and it's just 2,031 fewer fans than the B's averaged in the 2005-06 season.

As a reminder — that's for a rookie game.

As evidenced by the high attendance numbers (11,571 showed up on Wednesday), the city and its hockey fans are clearly ready to move on from last year's playoff collapse.
