While the Jets recently announced they were keeping the progression of their talks with holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis private, it's no secret how badly the Jets need Revis on the field this season.

They may be inching closer to making that happen as head coach Rex Ryan traveled to Florida this weekend to speak with Revis about a contract extension, the New York Daily News first reported.

ESPN.com is reporting that Revis, widely recognized as one of the game's best cornerbacks, is reportedly looking for a new contract in the neighborhood of 10 years, and $160 million, while the team has only offered him a contract worth $122 million.

The Jets were without Revis throughout their preseason schedule and unless they get a deal done soon, they will be without the All-Pro corner for their season opener against the Ravens on Monday, Sept. 13.
