Doc Rivers is rarely quiet, but he’ll have to be for the time being — doctor’s orders.

The coach underwent what the team is calling “minor throat surgery” to relieve stress on his vocal chords on Sunday, according to SI.com’s Chris Mannix.

Celtics assistant coach Lawrence Frank addressed the media at practice Monday, telling them that the operation was planned in advance.

“He feels good, but the doctor doesn’t want him using his voice, so it will kind of be day-to-day,” Frank said, according to CSNNE.com.
