Regis Philbin Retiring From Show, Leaving Him to Enjoy Yankees Baseball, Notre Dame Football Regis Philbin may be popping up at Yankee Stadium more often in 2011.

That's because the legendary TV host announced Tuesday morning on Live With Regis and Kelly that he is retiring after spending parts of five decades in the business.

"There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera … especially certain old people," joked the 79-year-old Philbin, who actually looks 20 years younger than he is.

A native New Yorker, Philbin is a lifelong Yankee fan. He's just as passionate about Notre Dame football, as he graduated from the school in 1953.
