Adrian Gonzalez News Conference Live Blog: 'We Know We're Better Than Any Team Out There' 3:12 p.m.: On Gonzo’s sense of involvement in community: “Everything the Sox do charity-wise is incredible,” mentioning the Red Sox Foundation and Jimmy Fund.

3:11 p.m.: Theo on Adrian’s leadership: “By being so engaged in the whole team and not being focused on himself shows his leadership”

3:09 p.m.: “Things will turn around. I prepare 100 percent and I never put my head down. We know we’re better than any other team out there,” says Gonzo, referring to the team’s early woes.

3:06 p.m.: Both sides — the Sox and Gonzo’s corner — developed a lot of trust during contract negotiations, says Epstein.

This is likely in regards to Gonzo’s health. His corner guaranteed a fulls late of health by Opening Day and they couldn’t have been more right.

3:05 p.m.: Theo a gambler?

“If you’re going to bet on one player, we’re very comfortable betting on Adrian Gonzalez.”

1 p.m.: The Red Sox will be announcing the contact extension of slugger Adrian Gonzalez at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon from Fenway Park.
