General David Petraeus' time as commander of NATO troops in Afghanistan is nearing its end. That move should make it a little easier for the general to follow his favorite hockey team — the Boston Bruins.

It was recently revealed that Gen. Petraeus, who is leaving his post in Afghanistan to become the director of the CIA, is actually a fan of the Black and Gold, reports TSN.

Petraeus, a New Hampshire native, had his allegiances exposed by a couple of officers from Canada during a PowerPoint presentation during the Stanley Cup Final in which they inserted a "Canucks in Five" slide toward the end of the presentation.

"He is a Bruins fan," confirmed Brig.-Gen John Hammond. "There's been some friendly ribbing over this right up until just recently."

The American and Canadian troops at the base also spent the Stanley Cup Final waking up early to catch the broadcasts of the games. The two fan bases also exchanged their own version of the Stanley Cup back and forth after every game.

Hammond says that the he and his soldiers contacted the Bruins to get Gen. Petraeus a signed photo.

According to the Reading Patch, it was Hammond who ended up presenting Petraeus with the signed photo.

Hammond was promoted to Brigadier General as one of Petraeus' last promotions before leaving for the CIA.
