Red Sox Look to Enter All-Star Break on Six-Game Win Streak With Kyle Weiland Making Major League Debut With Jon Lester on the disabled list with a strained lat, the Red Sox will turn to Kyle Weiland on the mound as Boston goes for its sixth win in a row on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Weiland will be making his MLB debut when he toes the rubber at Fenway Park in the finale of a four-game set with the Orioles. The righty has made 17 starts for Triple-A Pawtucket this year, going 8-6 with a 3.00 ERA.

Sox pitching has been especially strong during the current series with Baltimore, despite being banged up. On Thursday, Andrew Miller shook off a rough first inning to pick up his third win of the season as the Orioles were limited to four runs despite having eight runners in scoring position during the contest.

On Friday, Josh BeckettMatt Albers and Dan Wheeler combined to strike out nine batters as the Sox offense exploded in a 10-3 victory. It was Beckett’s eight win of the season.

Saturday night, John Lackey turned in his best performance of the season, going 6 2/3 innings and striking out seven in a 4-0 shutout.

Jason Varitek will be doing the catching for Boston and bat seventh, replacing Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who worked behind the plate on Saturday. The rest of the Sox lineup remains the same from Saturday.

Baltimore will send right-hander Mitch Atkins to the mound as the Birds hope to halt a six game losing streak. Atkins made his Orioles debut on Tuesday, going six innings and allowing one run at Texas. The O’s will sport the same lineup from Saturday’s contest.

A win on Sunday will ensure that Boston enters the All-Star break in first place in the American League East. The Sox lead the Yankees by one game entering Sunday’s action.
