The Red Sox are certainly doing their due diligence when it comes to this year's trade market. They've been linked to a number of players, many of whom are starting pitchers. As of Wednesday, the Sox are reportedly still considering adding starting pitching, most notably Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez.
Jimenez is one of a number of pitchers that the Red Sox will consider leading up to Sunday's deadline, reports The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo and ESPN's Jayson Stark.
According to Cafardo and Stark, the Red Sox will contemplate whether to add starting pitching over the next few days. The pitchers that they will reportedly consider include Jimenez, Rich Harden, Erik Bedard and Hiroki Kuroda.
Jimenez is, of course, the crown jewel of the starting pitchers whose names have floated around in trade rumors in recent weeks. It was at first believed that the Rockies' asking price for the right-hander would be too high for most teams and that he wouldn't be dealt, but Stark is reporting that a number of teams are still in on him.
Stark said that an official for a contending team said on Tuesday, "My guess is, they move him."
The Reds, Yankees, Rangers, Tigers, Blue Jays and two unidentified National League teams are said to be in the mix for the Rockies starter at this time.
