Red Sox Looking for Rare Success Against Brian Matusz in Second Game of Doubleheader With Orioles

The Red Sox don't have long to think about a disappointing loss to the Orioles on Monday afternoon. Roughly three hours after falling short to Baltimore, the Sox are back at it in the nightcap of the doubleheader.

Boston will have to solve the riddle that is Baltimore lefty Brian Matusz in the second game. Matusz is 2-0 in his career against the Red Sox with a 2.43 ERA in five career starts.

The Sox will juggled the lineup some for the nightcap, as Conor Jackson is slated to play left field with the left-handed Matusz on the mound. Left fielder Carl Crawford, who was scratched prior to Game 1 with a sore neck, will sit out the second game as well. Of course, Crawford is also 0-for-10 in his career against Matusz.

Darnell McDonald moves to right field for the second game after being the late addition to the lineup when Crawford was the late scratch.

John Lackey will take the mound with hopes of salvaging the split for the Sox. In the right-hander's only start against Baltimore this season, he tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings on the way to a 4-0 Boston win on July 9.

Lackey is 11-4 in his career against the Orioles.
