Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer won’t miss a drastic amount of time with his latest knee injury, but the B’s may be without the young blueliner for up to a month.

The B’s announced that Kampfer will miss 2-to-4 weeks with a sprained MCL suffered in the Bruins’ 2-1 loss to the Senators on Thursday night. Kampfer had an MRI on the ailing knee on Friday.

It’s the second time in as many years that Kampfer has had to battle a knee injury, as he missed time last season with an injury to his right knee.

Kampfer’s absence should continue to give fellow youngster Matt Bartkowski the inside edge on the battle for the team’s final defenseman spot at least for the time being.
