The Bruins got one key defenseman back in practice on Wednesday, but had another absent for the session in Wilmington, Mass., as the club got in a workout before leaving for their preseason opener in Ottawa.

Zdeno Chara left practice on Monday after taking a shot off the inside of his left leg and did not participate in Tuesday's Black and White Game in Providence. Chara was not scheduled to be among the group traveling to Ottawa for Wednesday night's game.

Chara returned to the ice Wednesday, while Joe Corvo stayed off after suffering a minor groin injury in the Black and White Game. Bruins coach Claude Julien stated the injury was not serious and that the team was just being cautious with the defenseman acquired from Carolina this summer.

The same goes for center David Krejci, who left Wednesday's practice early with a similar minor groin injury.

"He has a tight groin," Julien said of Corvo in his daily briefing with reporters. "So before anything happened, we pulled him out [of Tuesday's scrimmage] and we're giving him a little bit of rest.

"Krech did the same thing today," Julien added. "We told him to get off the ice. So it's just the typical training camp things that happen. We're being more cautious than we are being risky."

Neither Corvo nor Krejci were scheduled to travel with the club to Ottawa, so their minor injuries will not force any lineup adjustments for the game against the Senators. Julien did state that Tuukka Rask, who is coming off minor offseason knee surgery, would get the start in goal and likely play the full game.

"Tuukka's going to be in net," Julien said. "He should play the whole 60 minutes bearing how he feels and everything else. We told him we'd gauge him as we go along, but if he feels good I'll probably leave him in there for the whole 60."
