Celtics legend and 11-time NBA champion Bill Russell was honored with a statue at City Hall Plaza in Boston on Friday during a private unveiling ceremony.

This sort of moment was long overdue, but it’s great to have a statue of Russell in Boston so current and future generations of sports fans can learn about his extraordinary basketball career and the amazing charitable work he’s done.
