Two Massachusetts Natives Named To 2014 USA Hockey NTDP Evaluation Camp Roster

USANTDPUSA Hockey announced its 2014 national team development program (NTDP) evaluation camp roster on Wednesday, and it features two Massachusetts natives.

“We’re excited to welcome another talented crop of players to our tryout camp,” Peter Ward, director of player personnel for the NTDP, said in a press release. “The entire scouting staff puts in days, months and years of hard work to identify what we believe are the nation’s top players in this age group.”

A total of 52 players were named to the roster, including John Leonard and Luke McInnis of Amherst and Hyannis, Mass., respectively. Graham McPhee, the son of Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee, has committed to Boston College.

This year’s camp will run from March 21-25.

Many players who have participated in the NTDP have gone on to star in the NHL. Two of the most famous alumnae are Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane and Toronto Maple Leafs winger James van Riemsdyk, both of whom were selected in the top two picks of their draft year.
