The Stanley Cup victory tour is off to a booze-filled start.
Hours after the Los Angeles Kings’ championship parade through the streets of L.A. on Monday, Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams and Cup-clinching goal scorer Alec Martinez paid a visit to “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
With them on the set was Keeper of the Cup Phil Pritchard, who rattled off a number of things winners are not allowed to do with the greatest trophy in sports before stating that using it as a giant margarita glass falls within the guidelines.
So, that’s exactly what they did.
After everyone took a few sips from the Cup, L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti — who had a few sips of his own earlier in the day — joined Williams and Martinez on Kimmel’s couch to collect on his bet with New York counterpart Bill de Blasio, who serenaded the audience with a very awkward rendition of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.”
