The Los Angeles Dodgers will have to go without one of their aces for at least the next two weeks.
Pitcher Josh Beckett was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Monday after suffering a left hip impingement.
The Texan tweaked his left hip while running the bases against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday and was forced to leave the game in the fifth inning.
Beckett has been one of the biggest surprise stories in baseball this year. After unceremoniously being traded by the Boston Red Sox in 2012 and missing most of 2013 because of thoracic outlet syndrome, Beckett has bounced back with a 2.26 ERA over 17 starts and a 2.97 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
The two-time World Series champion also threw a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies in May.
