It didn’t take long for Jordan Henderson or Raheem Sterling to find their form.
Henderson and Sterling combined to create, and score, the opening goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Sunday. It was a memorable one — not only because it the Reds’ first goal of the 2014-15 Premier League season but also for Henderson’s inch-perfect pass.
In the 23rd minute, Henderson won the ball in Liverpool’s half, looked up and sent an inch-perfect, left-footed pass from the halfway line 45 yards forward, as Sterling was streaking behind the Southampton defense.
Sterling ran onto it and calmly beat Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster with a side-footed shot to put Liverpool out front.

Henderson, 24, and Sterling, 19, became key players for Liverpool last season. Sterling scored nine Premier League goals in his breakout campaign, while the ever-present Henderson had seven assists.
From the looks of things, their respective emergences will continue in 2014-15.
