It’s not often we get to see Gregg Popovich’s lighter side, but when we do, it’s pretty awesome.
The San Antonio Spurs head coach took the time to record a birthday message and send it to ESPN’s Michelle Beadle, who celebrated her 39th birthday Thursday.
Beadle, who is a diehard Spurs fan, was hosting “Sports Nation” and having an ordinary day talking about DeMarco Murray when the Spurs mascot came out of nowhere and surprised Beadle with a cake and a hug.
The Coyote then showed her the video from Popovich and it induced a few tears of joy.
Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday.
Popovich is no stranger to heart-warming moments. Last season, he delivered one of the most emotional moments of the NBA season when he sent get well wishes to TNT’s Craig Sager, who was diagnosed with acute leukemia, during an in-game interview with Sager’s son.
