The NBA and Adidas want their fans to get on a first-name basis with players this Christmas Day.
Uniforms for this year’s Christmas Day games were released by the apparel company and they will have three main features: team logos will appear on the front, nameplates will be below the number and — get ready — first names will be prominently featured instead of surnames, and we’re sure Ish Smith of the Oklahoma City Thunder is pretty pumped about that.
Then there are all the people in the NBA not named LeBron, Kobe, Carmelo or Dwyane who will have pretty basic jerseys.

Michael Ehrlich of Adidas tweeted some photos of the jerseys, too.

Sigh.
While it’s great these jerseys don’t have the dreaded sleeves, it might be a better idea to have teams wear something tolerable to watch for two and a half hours like retro uniforms.
