Paul MolitorThe Minnesota Twins’ search for a new manager reportedly is ending soon.

The team is expected to hire Paul Molitor as itsĀ skipper, according to ESPN 1500’s Patrick Reusse.

If hired, the Hall of Famer would beat out other candidates such asĀ Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo and former Twin Doug Mientkiewicz, who is currently the manager of the Twins’ single-A affiliate.

Molitor will be the 13th manager in Twins history and will have a tough act to follow. He would replace Ron Gardenhire, who won more than 1,000 games over 13 seasons.

The Twins also spoke with former Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon, but he will be taking the Chicago Cubs managerial position.

Molitor played the last three seasons of his career in Minnesota.
