9:01 a.m.: Matt Kemp should be a Padre by the end of the day.
We knew earlier the Padres would receive Kemp and Tim Federowicz in exchange for Yasmani Grandal and Joe Wieland, and now we know the third player is a minor-league pitcher “believed to be Zach Eflin,” a source told MLB.com.
According to USA Today, the Dodgers will send $31 million of the remaining $107 million left on Kemp’s contract to the Padres.
The trade hasn’t been announced yet because the commissioner’s office must approve it due to the amount of money involved and the players still need to pass their physicals.
8:11 a.m.: Not so fast, Minnesota Twins.
It was reported Wednesday that the Twins reportedly had made a deal with starter Ervin Santana, but the New York Yankees actually might come away with the right-hander. Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports the Yankees are “kicking the tires” on Santana, with the sides beginning to talk.

8:00 a.m.: Have a day, Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers pulled off some serious moves on Day 3 of the winter meetings, as they made trades with the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels that involved eight players. L.A. acquired All-Star second baseman Howie Kendrick from the Halos for top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney, whom the Dodgers had acquired earlier that afternoon.
In addition, the Dodgers also got infielder Enrique Hernandez, reliever Chris Hatcher and minor leaguer Austin Barnes from Miami while the Marlins received Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon, pitcher Dan Haren and infielder Miguel Rojas. Oh right, and the Dodgers also reportedly agreed to a four-year. $48 million deal with pitcher Brandon McCarthy.
And they aren’t done yet.
According to multiple reports, the Dodgers and San Diego Padres are on the verge of a Matt Kemp blockbuster deal. A high-ranking official with knowledge of the news told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that the sides agreed to a deal, but it has not been made official yet.
“Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz will be sent to the Padres in a package deal for catcher Yasmani Grandal, pitcher Joe Wieland and at least one prospect,” Nightengale reports.
The Dodgers certainly shook things up on Day 3, so we’ll keep you posted on what sort of shenanigans go down on the fourth and final day of the winter meetings right here on NESN.com.
