The New York Yankees have their new (ish) third baseman.

The Yankees reportedly have come to terms with free-agent Chase Headley to a four-year contract worth $52 million, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman. Headley just has to pass a physical for the deal to become official, according to reports.

Both sides certainly have familiarity with each other. Headley appeared in 58 games with the Yankees last season after being acquired at the trade deadline from the San Diego Padres. The 30-year-old was solid in his time with the club, hitting .262 with six home runs and 17 RBIs while committing only three errors in the field.

Headley’s best season came in 2012 when he hit 31 home runs and led the National League with 115 RBIs despite playing half of his game in spacious Petco Park.

The Yankees will open the season with depth at the hot corner. In addition to having Headley back in the fold, Alex Rodriguez is expected to be back with the club after being suspended for the entire 2014 season.
