Adrian Beltre Sends Angels’ Garrett Richards Invoice For Three Broken Bats

Adrian Beltre needs some new baseball bats, and he thinks the man responsible for breaking them should reimburse him.

The Texas Rangers third baseman had a rough game Friday against the Los Angeles Angels. Beltre was hitless in his three at-bats against Angels starter Garrett Richards, and to make matters worse, Beltre broke bats in all three of those times to the plate.

Techincally, it was Richards’ fault the bats broke, so Beltre decided Richards should pay — literally. According to The Orange County Register, Beltre sent an invoice for $300 to Richards. Beltre apparently went all-in to pull off the gag, too.

“It was a real invoice, like Beltre went to an office-supply store and bought a pack of them or something,” the OC Register’s Pedro Maura wrote Saturday. “‘Cash only, no checks,'” (Beltre) wrote above his signature.”

We’re unsure whether breaking bats ranks above or below touching Beltre’s head on the list of things he hates, but we’re guessing that still tops the list.
