David Ortiz keeps climbing the charts.
Ortiz launched his third home run of the season Wednesday as the Boston Red Sox fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-5 at Tropicana Field. The blast moved Ortiz ahead of elite company in two statistical categories.
Ortiz’s homer was the 469th of his career, moving him ahead Chipper Jones for 32nd on Major League Baseball’s all-time home run list.
The RBI that Ortiz tallied on the home run was the 1,538th RBI of his career, moving Big Papi ahead of Joe DiMaggio for 46th on MLB’s all-time RBI list.
