Evan Turner and the Boston Celtics didn’t back down in Game 3 of their NBA playoff series at TD Garden, going right at the Cleveland Cavaliers in an intense, physical contest. The Celtics’ aggressiveness helped them stay in the game, but it also led to some unfortunate consequences.
Exhibit A: Turner’s attempt to dunk over James late in the fourth quarter.
LeBron had plenty of words for Turner after the huge swat, seemingly mouthing, “You tried!” to the Celtics guard.
Those statements both are true.
The two continued to jaw at each other as Jae Crowder went to the line to shoot free throws, continuing a contentious battle that flared in the second quarter when Turner earned a flagrant foul for wrapping up James on a breakaway.
The C’s couldn’t mount a comeback after James’ swat, as a Kevin Love three put the dagger in a 103-95 Cavs win.
But hey, at least they tried.
