Zack Greinke Called Out Dodgers For Not Washing Hands After ‘Doing No. 2’

Everybody poops, but not everybody washes their hands, and Zack Greinke has a problem with that.

The pitcher is an interesting guy, to say the least, and he’ll likely be a big piece of an upcoming book about the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Molly Knight’s book, “The Best Team Money Can Buy,” goes on sale July 14, and advanced copies are being sent to members of the baseball media. Hardball Talk’s Craig Calcaterra got one and shared his favorite anecdote so far. It has to do with Greinke, guys going No. 2 and a team meeting.

Calcaterra writes that Dodgers manager Don Mattingly called a team meeting in 2013, and Greinke did something he never does: He stood up and addressed the team.

“Some of you guys have been doing the No. 2 and not washing your hands,” Greinke said, per Calcaterra. “It’s not good. I noticed it even happening earlier today. So if you guys could just be better about it, that would be great.”

Apparently, the Dodgers couldn’t tell whether Greinke was being serious. They eventually decided he was, which made it even funnier, and they started laughing.

As Calcaterra points out, the Dodgers clinched the National League West just two days later.
