Bill Belichick is on to the Miami Dolphins. But before he left for sunny South Florida, the New England Patriots head coach decided to try his hand at another craft.
Gillette Stadium, of course, is the site of Friday’s NHL Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. So before the Patriots’ practice Thursday, Belichick got in on the action by joining Bruins head coach Claude Julien for a quick skating session.

In case you’re wondering, yes, there’s video:

Belichick apparently played some hockey during his days in New Jersey while coaching with the New York Giants and is quite fond of the sport. He’s certainly no Bobby Orr out there, but that’s not too shabby for a guy who spends roughly 364 days per year immersed in football.
Thursday’s quick session apparently wasn’t all smooth sailing, though.

The experience managed to coax a rare smile out of Belichick in a group photo with Julien, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney and team president Cam Neely, so we’re calling it a success.
