It’s already time for the first Grand Slam tournament of 2016.
The Australian Open kicks off Sunday, Jan. 17, in Melbourne, Australia, for viewers on the East Coast of the United States, and it’s bringing us two full weeks of tennis.
Serena Williams will get to start fresh in 2016 after coming one win short of the calendar Grand Slam at the 2015 U.S. Open. The world No. 1 bested Maria Sharapova in straight sets to win last year’s Australian Open, the sixth of her career.
Novak Djokovic is the defending men’s champion after beating Andy Murray for his fifth Australian Open title. Djokovic is the No. 1 seed for this year’s tournament, followed by Murray and Roger Federer. Williams, Simona Halep and Garbine Muguruza are the top three women’s seeds.
Here’s the complete schedule for the 2016 Australian Open, which will be broadcast on ESPN and the Tennis Channel. All times are ET.
