Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers received good news this week, as star forward Blake Griffin was cleared to return to basketball activities and began his team-induced four-game suspension.
The bad news? The Clips still need to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday without him.
OKC essentially has locked up the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, holding a five-game lead over L.A. with eight games to play. A win for the Clippers on Thursday might not go a long way in the standings, but it certainly would help the team’s confidence heading into the playoffs.
The two clubs wouldn’t face each other again before the Western Conference Finals as the standings currently sit, but you can be sure Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Thunder don’t want to give their opponents any glimmer of hope.
