The Detroit Red Wings can secure a Stanley Cup playoff berth for the 25th straight season if they beat the New York Rangers in regulation or overtime in Saturday’s regular-season finale at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers already have clinched a playoff spot and will be icing a weaker lineup so that important players such as No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist are able to receive additional rest before Round 1.
