The last time we heard from Delonte West, he was wandering around a Jack In The Box parking lot in Houston, shoeless and looking pretty discombobulated.

So, naturally, when a photograph of the former Boston Celtics guard on a Maryland street holding a cardboard sign went viral this weekend, many assumed the worst and believed he had hit rock bottom and was homeless.

The original tweet since has been deleted, but the photo caption read, “Let’s Pray For Delonte West Y’all He Bipolar And On St.Barnabas Road Bumming Smh He Ain’t Taking His Medicine.”

Fortunately, it appears West isn’t actually homeless. He reportedly cleared up the speculation about his situation to Media Takeout and said he was just trying to be a good Samaritan.

“(I) was helping a homeless man in my neighborhood that’s paralyzed from neck down,” West said. “I parked my car and got out to help because it was 90 degree weather and (I) was feeling blessed at the moment for just having legs.”

West, who was drafted by the Celtics in 2004, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008. He last played in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks in 2012.
