The good news for the Boston Celtics is they’re in the room when it comes to the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported Monday, citing a league source, that the Celtics are one of a handful of teams who have a scheduled meeting with Durant, the biggest NBA free agent of the summer.

According to Broussard, Durant and his representatives also added meetings with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers. That’s in addition to reported scheduled sit-downs with the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Durant’s current team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Interestingly, Broussard noted the new-look New York Knicks might be able to get in on the fun, as the former NBA MVP also is considering a meeting with the team. That’s an interesting proposition, given the Knicks’ recent acquisition of another former MVP, Derrick Rose.

However, any team not named the Thunder or Warriors seems like a long shot at the moment. From financial and familiarity standpoints, Oklahoma City still seems like Durant’s best option. As for the Warriors, the New York Daily News reported last week that Golden State is the likely front-runner if Durant decides to leave OKC.
